Childhood Magic Aftercare: 1 - 3 pm $100
Arts, crafts, nature walks, outdoor free play, water play, storytelling, and more led by our early childhood staff from Emerson Waldorf School. Campers will enjoy the outdoors and have fun on our awesome Kindergarten playground! We will offer campers the opportunity to splash in our wading pools every day, so please plan to send them with a bathing suit and towel. Parents can also “opt in” for the additional aftercare from 1:00-3:00, which will include a quiet rest time after we splash. We will send a complete list of suggested items for campers to bring before camp begins.

Campers will spend each day exploring a fairy tale. We will start the day by reading a story together and continue on to themed activities. For example, on Cinderella day, campers will carve pumpkins into carriages and learn ballroom dancing moves. On Jack and the Beanstalk day, campers will go on a scavenger hunt to look for magic beans and golden eggs. On Snow White day, campers will make their own dwarf costumes and then bake an apple pie.
Ella Craddock is currently a student at Appalachian State University in Boone. She is an education major and aspires to become a teacher. Ella attended Emerson Waldorf from 1st to 4th grade and loves the outdoors, art, and school!

Water bottle
Healthy snack and lunch
Sunscreen and hat

Join Ms. Atula in creating nature-inspired watercolor art. We will dive deep into nature magic as we explore painting with watercolor, flower pressing, paper making, and eco-printing inspired by what we see in full garden bloom. We will spend early mornings in the garden, identifying herbs, flowers, and plants, and capturing their beauty in our artwork. At the end of our time together, campers will have a lovely collection of pressed flowers, hand-made paper, and eco prints, as well as botanical watercolor art.
Atula Sakhi has had a life-long passion for the arts. She had a career in the world of fashion before she began teaching art classes to children. Atula and her family moved to Chapel Hill in 2019 for friends and community. She previously served as art director for a local private school and currently teaches at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro, as well as leading art clubs at the Expedition School in Hillsborough.

Campers will have fun working the farm in the coolness of the morning. They will work in the garden and care for the farm's chickens, goats, and sheep. In the afternoons, campers will make nature crafts or cook with seasonal produce and herbs, including their own harvest! Come be a farmer for a week!
Kristin McGee runs the farm at the Emerson Waldorf School and teaches farming and gardening classes for grades 1-8. She loves sharing the beauty of the farm and snuggling the farm animals.

Fusing the consciousness of slow fashion with the design of embroidery and sashiko gives us the eco-friendly and beautiful art of repairing what we already own or altering what we find second hand. Campers will learn about natural fibers, how to extend and highlight the life of worn garments, and how to make something new out of something old. Torn knees, ripped shirts, holey-tops or bottoms are all welcome here! Learn how to embrace the weakening fibers that you can't let go of or give a second life to those amazing second-hand finds. By adding mending as part of the life-cycle of your textiles, you can be comforted by them for much longer and know you're not adding to the already overwhelming textile waste in our world today.
Christine Shalda is a local fiber artist and Handwork teacher at Emerson Waldorf School. She is currently immersed in a four-year Applied Arts Program at Fiber Craft Studio in New York. Christine believes in the transformative power of slow, mindful creation. She weaves together her love of natural dyeing, sewing, and knitting with a deep respect for the natural world, fostering a sense of wonder and connection in her students.

EWS Soccer Camp offers a fun and exciting environment for campers to discover great qualities about themselves through soccer. This camp will focus on “Ball Mastery,” as players spend time developing different skills that will help them maintain control of their bodies and the ball in game situations.
We will also be having a “classroom” portion where we connect with the campers a little differently because they do the talking and give us their feedback on how the camp has been going. We ask certain questions to let them think, analyze or talk on what we are working on.
The camp will be split into an older group (12-14) and a younger group (9-11), though players will participate in larger scrimmages and select skill drills together. Camp days will begin with stretching and warm-ups to activate our mind and body. We will then transition to ball mastery skills, with each player using his or her own ball. From here we will progress into multiplayer skill drills and combine skills into game-like situations. Each day of camp will include or end with a scrimmage, weather permitting.
CoachesBeltus Atabong & Belomy Atabong, also known as “Beck and Belo,” were born in Cameroon, West Africa and relocated to the United States back in 2007. Soccer has been a big part of our lives since childhood, and we continued playing through college and beyond. Discovering our passion for coaching and training while playing in college inspired us to dedicate our full attention to coaching after our competitive years came to an end.

Campers don't have to take themselves too seriously in order to benefit from this skills camp — we will still have lots of fun! They will enjoy working hard and challenging their existing self-beliefs in order to improve their skills. This camp will focus on great shot selections, different types of shots, left-hand and right-hand layups, and in-game situations while improving campers' overall basketball IQ. Each day we will track the progress of each camper so they can have an overall understanding of how they can continue to grow. Certificates will be given to each participant at the end of the camp.
Coach William Davis is the middle school basketball coach for EWS and has coached basketball in the area for the last 8 years. His focus is always towards growth, enjoyment, and knowledge of the game.
