Festival Life
Reimagining our Festivals
At Emerson Waldorf School, we celebrate the change of seasons through art, music, story, performance, and song in our classes and our festival life. Our festivals connect us to the spiritual forces that are revealed by nature during the change of seasons. They also help strengthen our community life by coming together to celebrate what is universal during these times of dynamic changes.
The EWS Faculty, led by the College of Teachers, has been in the process of reimagining our festival life over the past several years. This year, the College of Teachers has renewed that process with an ongoing study of Rudolf Steiner’s The Cycle of the Year. This new imagination is also inspired by a desire to have our festivals better reflect our time and place, as well as a more universal spirituality.
During the height of the recent pandemic, we were isolated from each other in many ways. Our school’s festival life is an opportunity for us to not only come back together to celebrate our community but also to reinvent our festivals as welcoming and inclusive for all.
